A small Californian winery experiences success in China

cwsa-newsStaglin Family Vineyard from Napa’s Rutherford region is increasing their importation of the winery’s Cabernets and Chardonnays into China, thanks to their recent success. The winery’s ‘Salus’ range has been well received by Chinese consumers, which CEO and co-owner Shari Staglin attributes to the wine’s fruity undertones. Made from younger grapes, Staglin believes this flavour is “very attuned with Chinese food”.  The Salus Chardonnay embodies clean, fresh aromas which, according to Staglin, is because the wine doesn’t go through a second fermentation process. The Staglin Vineyard is the region’s only Chardonnay as they are the only winery with vineyards located on deposits of volcanic ash. This provides the wines a noticeable fruity intensity and aroma. Staglin Family Vineyard is not the only Californian winery to be gaining attention in China. The following wines have also received recognition as CWSA Trophy Winners:

1. Mira Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Mira Winery
2. Napa Valley Chardonnay 2014, Beringer Vineyard
3. Sleepy Hollow Pinot Noir 2007, Arcadian
