Napa Seeking High Growth in China

cwsa-newsWine industry leaders from California and China have gathered at Napa Valley College for the first ever California-China Wine Cultural Exchange. This exciting meeting brought together prominent winemakers, marketers, academics, importers, and exporters from both countries to discuss the rapidly expanding Chinese wine market. In attendance was Wayne Batwin, former Director of the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office of the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai and current President of the NAPA-based consulting firm PRIME Market Access International, who called China a “high growth, emerging market.” He attributes this to China’s increasing urbanization and GDP, and a growing middle class that will soon be 350 million strong.
