Italian Winemakers See Opportunity as Chinese Market Develops

Acwsa-newss China has grown to become the superpower market for wine, the tastes of Chinese consumers have evolved and become increasingly experimental. Initially Chinese buyers were particularly interested in French wines, but recently there has been an emerging enthusiasm for Italian products. According to the market intelligence group Wine Monitor, Italian exports to China increased by more than 20% over the course of 2015, and that number is expected to grow. Said Wine Monitor President Denis Pantini, “I’m sure Italian wines can enjoy a great success in China. As the Chinese learn more about wines they want to try different varieties, and Italy offers wines from unique varieties of grapes and territories.” Many Italian producers have already enjoyed greater recognition thanks to wins at CWSA Best Value 2016, such as Mezzacorona, Nannoni Grappe, and Feudo Arancio.
