Huge Chinese Wine Sale Surge During Singles Day

cwsa-newsNovember 11th is an important day on the Chinese calendar as it is the gift giving holiday of Singles Day. This holiday is now the world’s biggest day for shopping, and this year wine sellers enjoyed a massive surge in sales as the country spent a record breaking $9.3 billion on various goods. The retailer YesMyWine – that stocks a significant range of CWSA Medal winning wines – doubled the sales it saw last year, hitting nearly USD$41 million in just 24 hours. While Singles Day usually brings record breaking sales year after year, this year’s outstanding results came as something of a shock, with a representative from YesMyWine reporting that “sales have been surprisingly heated.” China sees more and more sales with each Singles Day, and as the trend continues wine sellers are cheering for a doubling of 24 hour profits next November 11th.
