Are there different categories?

The CSA are the only awards in the world judged specifically for the China market. Entirely focused on what Chinese professional spirits buyers want to buy and what Chinese consumers want to drink.

All the spirits will be rated in blind tastings by Chinese professional spirits buyers. These are the decision makers of large importers, wholesellers, restaurant/bar groups and retailers.

The result will be Bronze, Silver, Gold and the coveted Double Gold Medals plus ‘Highly Commended’ for outstanding wines.
For popular categories, popular origins (both by country and by region), we may in addition award discrectionary Trophies (e.g. Best Brandy or Best Tequila).

What are the judging criteria?
The CSA are the only awards in the world judged specifically for the China market. Entirely focused on what Chinese professional spirits buyers want to buy and what Chinese consumers want to drink.

The CWA Judges include:

*Major purchasing decision makers at China spirits importers, distributors and wholesellers
*Bar; nightclub and restaurant group owners
*Purchasing decision makers at major and medium sized retailers

In September 2012, we will hold a huge blind tasting with these judges, who will judge the spirits primarily on their suitability for the Chinese market. This means the key factor is not whether the spirit is technically perfect, but whether it suits the tastes of Chinese consumers.

How many competitions do you have a year and what are the differences?
There are 4 key competitions a year:
– The China Wine Awards (Annually in September)
– The China Spirits Awards (Annually in September)
– The China BEST VALUE Wine Awards (Annually in February)
– The China BEST VALUE Spirits Awards (Annually in February)
Buyers have asked us, ‘How can we find out what wines and spirits would be the BEST VALUE?’ The China BEST VALUE Wine Awards and the China BEST VALUE Spirits Awards was created to give lower price point wines the opportunity to shine and to be further exposed to this rapidly growing market.
Unlike other competitions, where often the most expensive wines are at an advantage, the judges of China BEST VALUE Wine and Spirits Awards are only comparing wines against others of the same price point that would suit the China Market.
The China Wine Awards and the China Spirits Awards focuses on what wines and spirits will be best for the China market overall. Wines & Spirits compete head to head for the blind tasting by 100 of Greater China’s leading wine buyers.
