6 Kinds of Chinese Wine lovers…

cwsa-newsWine Intelligence has just categorised the six recognisable consumer types among the 38 million consumers in China. The six categories include “developing drinkers”, “adventurous connoisseurs”, “prestige-seeking traditionalists”, “social newbies” and “health sippers”. When the Chinese wine market first began its rapid expansion, it was largely driven by high-end product sales, but this new report shows that a new generation of wine enthusiasts are not only drinking more wine, but that they’re thirsty for more “mainstream” products. According to Richard Halstead, Chief Operating Officer at Wine Intelligence, “Over the past three years the Chinese market for imported wine has begun a fundamental transformation. We are moving from the era where prestige wine was only bought as a face-enhancing gift towards a world where consumers care more about how it tastes – because they will now be drinking it themselves”.
